100 Words -- Loyalty

Two things. First, Federal employees take an oath “to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic” and to “bear true faith and allegiance to the same.” The oath is to the Constitution, not the president. Second, during my time in the military I came to understand the difference between being in command and commanding loyalty. A new commander can give orders, but that only gets you a salute. Loyalty, trust, respect … those are earned. Comparing them to Nazis won’t exactly endear you to the troops. This would seem kinda obvious, and yet …
